Veyla

£590.00

One-of-a-Kind Forest Child Sculpture
Available for in-person purchase only

Veyla travels slowly but endlessly, riding upon her loyal snail companion, a creature unnamed to all but her. Their bond is deep, built over a thousand journeys.

The snail carries her steadily forward, guided by delicate brass reins, scavenged long ago, perhaps once part of a lost pocket watch or a forgotten locket. Upon his back rests a sculpted leaf saddle, shaped to hold her comfortably as they roam.

Behind her seat stands a small twig frame bearing glass bottles filled with organic seeds. Veyla gathers them wherever she wanders. She asks for nothing but space to travel and in return, she leaves behind the beginnings of forests yet to come.

Atop her head sits a carefully fashioned leaf hat, designed to shield her from sun and sky and to camouflage her from predators overhead. A tiny bell hangs from its tip, chiming softly with each movement. Some say its sound lulls small predators into calm and alerts gentler creatures to her presence.

Veyla and her giant snail companion are entirely hand sculpted and hand painted by myself, without the use of molds or casts. Every element, including the snail, saddle, and detailing, has been shaped and finished by hand, making this a true one-of-a-kind artwork, never to be recreated.
